SPUR SENIOR CITIZENS NEWS

I am always amazed at how a little warm weather in the middle of winter can vitalize people! We have so many things popping up here at the Center. A group of bridge players are having a Valentine bridge party here on the 11th, then the Red Hats are having their Valentine party here on the 19th.

The Center has also scheduled a couple of things for the month; Accolade is conducting blood sugar and cholesterol checks for us on the 24th of the month, then the Center is having a fund raiser onthe 27th. Look forward to having a pancake and sausage supper, with rousing games of bingo afterward. We will have the pancake supper at 5:30 p.m. and bingo at 6:30. We plan on having really
nice prizes to pick from, so come have some fun with us on the 27th.

Spur has a very loyal following of former ex-students. In Lubbock, there is a group who meet one Saturday a month for breakfast. I had the privilege of eating breakfast with Alton and all those nice gentlemen this past Saturday. I’d like to thank Jack Cloud for his donation to the Center, it will be put to good use. I’d also like to thank Don Snodgrass for the compliments he gave the Center, the food and our cooks. It was a very nice advertisement for us!

We’ve had several nice memorials this month in honor of Robbie Hoover, thanks for those remembering this very nice lady. Some of the delicious meals being served this month include
Polish sausage with sauerkraut (I know some of us don’t consider sauerkraut delicious so there’ll also be coleslaw!), chicken fajitas, pork roast with sweet potatoes, and navy beans with ham. All these are accompanied with drink and dessert, all for a suggested donation of $4.00 for seniors and $6.00 for those youngsters under 60.

Come by and pick up a February menu and see what appeals to you. Many thanks to you who come by with a donation or food items that we can use. We appreciate your support and thoughtfulness.

Until next week, God bless.
