Dois Ed Ross, age 86, departed this world on January 24, 2024. He spent the last three months in the care of his loving family, finding solace before embarking on his journey to a place where he could breathe without struggle.

Born in Girard, Texas, to parents Flossie “Ma” Cleo Long Ross and Robert “Buck” Jeffery Ross, Dois had a rich and varied life. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Larson, and her husband Chris of South Dakota, sisters-in-law Faye Ross Scott of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Claudette Baugh Ross of Carlsbad, New Mexico, children Thomas “Jeff” Jeffery Ross, Cynthia “Cyndi” Ann Ross Streun, Deborah Kay Ross Ali, and Kathy Annette Ross Parrott. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren Sydney Ross Streun, Tory Shea Streun, Zachery Don Welch and Michael B Munger.

Dear friend Joan Carroll, wife of his late best friend Dolan Carroll, and her extended family, along with James Talley and son Jordan Talley, all residents of Abilene, Texas, were cherished members of Dois’ extended family.Their camaraderie brought joy to his life, and their shared memories will forever be etched in the fabric of his legacy.

Dois served in the Air Force in Puerto Rico, did not finish high school, but was recognized for his intelligence and wit. These qualities and many more he passed down to his children, for which they are forever grateful. Oil Patch was his vocation. He dedicated himself seven days a week to his work. Known for maintaining the cleanest rig amongst other highly regarded attributes, he achieved the esteemed position of Drilling Superintendent.

A resilient man in matters of the heart, Dois was married three times – twice to the same person. The third union occurred with wife two after she shot him in the foot — a situation that might be hard to understand. He continued to offer support to the wife he married and divorced two times, even after she took half twice.

Throughout his life, Dois cherished the memory of his mother and father, echoing the deep love he held for his family. May he rest in peace, leaving behind cherished memories and the legacy of a life well lived.
