October in the Lone Star State means corn dogs, car shows, livestock judging, butter sculptures, parades, deep-fried everything and the Dallas skyline viewed from the brightly lit Star of Texas Ferris wheel.
In other words, the State Fair of Texas.
Now through closing day Oct. 21, some 3 million visitors will flock to the Big D to see Big Tex and all the colorful sights of the fair. I’ll be there, working in the Texas Heritage Trails travel booth this weekend, and so will a couple of intrepid volunteers from Spur.
