Loyd Isaac Rinehart

Loyd Isaac Rinehart, Sr., 95, passed away Sept. 20, 2018 at home. He was born March 1, 1923 at Sagerton, TX, to John and Celia Rinehart. He graduated from Girard High School in 1941.

Loyd worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. from 1941-1983 as a gas tester. He took a leave of absence from 1942-1945 to serve in the US Navy as Chief Machinist’s Mate aboard the ammunition ship USS Nitro AE -2. He married Winona Pace Aug. 20, 1945 and was a member of Highway 70 Church of Christ. Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Luther Rinehart, and two sisters, Lucille Culberth and Lorene Hansford.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Winona, and one sister Leona (and husband Bob) Smith of Odessa; three children, LaDonna Worth of Chase, KS, Lorita (and husband Jay Lyle) Thomason of Spur, and Loyd Jr. (and wife Gilda) of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Highway 70 Church of Christ Wednesday Sept. 26, 2018 at 2 p.m. with Ronnie Gregory officiating. Burial will be at Red Mud Cemetery. Pallbearers will be great-grandsons Luke McKay, Daniel McKay, Jaxon Whitehead, Colton Baldridge, Dalton Baldridge, and Logan Kirkes. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Ratliff, Bo Whitaker, Glenn Jones, Ronnie White and Lightnin Rainbolt. In lieu of flowers the family requests consideration of memorials to the New Mexico Children’s Home in Portales, NM.
