Panhandle Plains Region Fishing Report Week of August 1, 2018

Lake Alan Henry

Water clear main lake, stained up the river; 80 degrees main lake, 83 up the creeks; 7.6’ low. Black bass are slow on spoons, topwater baits early, Texas rigged 7” Power Worms and Z–Man TRDs. Crappie are slow.

Colorado City Lake

Water fairly clear; 85–94 degrees; 18.31’ low. Black bass are slow on topwaters, Texas rigs and jigs. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers.

Lake Stamford

Water stained to muddy; 88–95 degrees; 3.15’ low. Black bass are fair to good on topwaters, Texas rigs and jigs. Crappie are fair to good on jigs and live minnows around structure. White bass are fair on slabs.

Lake Sweetwater

Water off color; 86–93 degrees; 27.3’ low. This lake is currently experiencing a fish kill due to golden alga. Biologists are monitoring the situation and will post updates as they become available.

White River Lake

Water stained; 85–92 degrees; 23.71’ low. Black bass are fair to good on topwaters early, later switching to Texas rigs and shakyheads.
