Kent County Judge Jim C. White welcomes KCBD anchor Karin McCay to Kent County.

The Jayton Jaybird cheerleaders joined meteorologist John Robinson during one of his stand-up pieces for the news.


Despite temperatures soaring well past the 100-degree mark, Jayton residents and businesses turned out in force to welcome KCBD-NBC11/Lubbock to their town.

The KCBD Community Tour, hosted on the Jayton schools’ campus, featured America’s longest serving anchor team of Abner Euresti and Karin McCay, alongside meteorologist John Robison and sports anchor Pete Christy.

The KCBD team broadcasted the 6 p.m. newscast live from the Jayton school with the Jaybird cheerleaders, mascot, football team and local fans providing an enthusiastic backdrop for the station.

MUGGY MUGGING FOR THE CAMERAS Despite temperatures well into the 100s, the on-air anchor team of Karin McCay, Abner Euresti and Pete Christy were surrounded by Jayton fans during station break cutaways.
