The public and all law enforcement officers are invited to attend the 70th annual Caprock Peace Officers’ Association (CPOA) Rattlesnake Rodeo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019, in Clairemont.
Civilians are encouraged to participate along with law enforcement officers in events such as horseshoe pitching, trap shooting and other competitive shooting. A chuck wagon lunch will be available, and an awards presentation will follow the competitions.
Events open to all members include a combat course, a riot trap shoot, a police pistol combat jackpot shoot, a speed challenge with steel targets, a pistol shoot and horseshoe pitching.
Firearms qualification, including submission of paperwork to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), on a 50-round course will be offered for official law enforcement, as well as a two-hour Continuing Law Enforcement Education Course that will be held after the annual meeting on May 9.
Raffle tickets will be sold for a Daniel Defense Rifle/ Browning Shotgun and a Green Mountain Grill. All proceeds go to maintenance of the organization or the scholarship fund.
The CPOA will also award three $1,500 scholarships at their annual meeting.
