Our Precious Valentines: Brazos and Blayke Humphreys, children of Will and Lindsay Humphreys, Dickens. They are the grandchildren of Kelly McNeill, Guthrie, Jimbo and Winona Humphreys, Dickens, and Jamie and Jonna McNeill of Crosbyton.
When we take the time to make sweets for our sweethearts, it is always a welcomed treat. And homemade baked goods are especially well received on Valentine’s Day.
SPEEDY SNOW Winter storm Landon changed downtown Jayton in a couple of hours on Wednesday afternoon. At 1 p.m. Amanda McGee with Kent County State Bank sent The Texas Spur photo 1 and in 2 hours L'Rae Lee with the Kent County Extension Office sent the same vista with quite a different look.
The Spur Senior Citizens Center, located at 210 Burlington Ave., will be serving a noon meal Monday through Friday. The dining room is open, or if you feel more comfortable during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are offering a curbside lunch you can reserve by calling (806) 271-4472. A donation is always appreciated. The cost for seniors over 60 is $4; everyone else is always welcome, for $8.
The usual gifts for Valentine’s Day are roses, cut flower bouquets or flowering containers. Humans are happier with living green around them, so maybe this year give your favorite human a foliage plant that will last much longer than flowers.
