Story time for all ages up through preschool is back at the library! Thanks to volunteer Joanna Bateman, we will be having story time every Thursday morning at 10. February 1 was the first story time for Joanna and she had a pretty good crowd of little ones. They were read from “This Is Owl” by Libby Walden and got to do activities related to the story. Bring your preschool-aged children every Thursday at 10 a.m for a fun filled story time.
Pruning guidelines for trees and shrubs will appear in the next two columns. The most urgent need right now is to shape up oaks when they are dormant and before leaf break. February is the month to prune oaks. Gardeners who don’t or can’t take care of their oaks in this month need to wait until summer to safely prune oaks.
Cities and school district election filings across Texas Spur Country for the May 4 election began last week. The deadline to file to run for city council or school board is Friday, Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. Patton Springs ISD holds its elections in November.
The Spur Senior Citizens Center, located at 210 Burlington Ave., serves a noon meal Monday through Friday.
