C.V. Hagar, 1934–2020

GIRARD—C.V. Hagar died peacefully at home on September 26, 2020. in Girard, Texas. at the age of 86.

C.V. was born on June 5, 1934 in Girard Cecil and Odessa Hagar. He graduated from Girard High School in 1951, and after high school he had many various jobs, including roughnecking, climbing telephone poles, working at the gins, farming and cattle ranching.

C.V. married the love of his life, Nancy Jane Smithey, on June 10, 1955, in Girard. C.V. and Nancy welcomed two children into their lives.

C.V. is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Hagar, of Girard; son, Craig Hagar (Patti) of Spur, Texas; two granddaughters, Brandi Stebritz of Denver, Colorado, and Ashley Pharis (Dusty) of Spur; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Ethan Carothers of Spur; and sister Charolette Hudson of Spur.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Odessa Hagar; daughter Kim Stebritz; grandson Tate Hagar; and brother Troy Hagar.

Graveside services were held September 29, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at the Girard Cemetery in Girard, with Tommy Bailey officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Kent Co. EMS service or Portales Children’s Home.
