Gloria Garza Perez

On Friday November 29, 2019, Gloria Garza Perez, loving daughter, mother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 70 after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer.

Gloria is survived by her mother, Maria Bustos Garza of Spur, Texas; Her two sons, Lupe and Armando M. Perez; and two daughters, Raquel and Vanessa L. Perez. She had seven grandchildren: Justin, Alexia, Victoria, Lorena, Alejandro and Kalob Perez and Haley Valdez. She had one great grandson, Keiton Childs. She is preceded in death by her father, Miguel Garza, Sr.; husband Jose Perez, Sr.; and son Jose Perez, Jr.

Gloria was born on March 31, 1949, in Robstown, Texas, to Maria and Miguel Garza, Sr. She married Jose Perez, Sr. on June 21, 1967, in Robstown.

Growing up, Gloria worked alongside her family as a migrant farm worker, picking cotton, and tomatoes and other vegetables, across the U.S. As an adult she worked as a certified nursing assistant. She raised her family in Immokalee, Fla., which means “my home” in Seminole. Later she moved to Spur “Espuela” Texas, and at the time of her passing lived in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Gloria attended Our Lady of Guadalupe in Immokalee, Saint Mary Catholic Church in Spur and Crossroads Christian Church in Grand Prairie. There she accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ again and was baptized for the second time on August 30, 2015.

Please remember her as a happy, gentle and loving woman of great faith and love for the Lord our God, dedicated to reading her Bible daily and praying for everyone. We know her wish for us all would be that if you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ to begin, seek Him, pray and read the Bible, have a close relationship with Him, so that even though we all live separate lives in this life that we can all be reunited one day in the Kingdom of God.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Spur, with interment to follow at Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend with open arms to celebrate Gloria’s life. Gloria loved all flowers and colors but especially roses, tulips and lilies. Our family would like to thank all the family, friends, doctors and health staff for their love, support, efforts and dedication and just know if she knew you, she loved you!
