Helen “Heidi” Louise Powell Sprayberry Ford,

age 94, of Dalhart, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, May 5, 2024.

Helen was born in Spur, Texas, on June 9, 1929, and had lived in Dalhart since 1974. She was the daughter of the late Chester A. and Sarah Louise Dillashaw Powell. Helen was a beautician for more than 50 years and was the owner of Short Cuts. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dalhart, loved to travel and had taken several cruises. Helen was a member of Good Sam RV Association, Yellow Rose Square Dancing Club, and the Dalhart Extension Education Club. She enjoyed flowers and living life.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husbands: Albert Sprayberry Jr. and James V. Ford; daughter, Robbie Lynn Britz; sons-in-law Jake Britz and Jim Page; and many of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Louise (Thomas) Pearson of Spur; stepdaughter Lawana Ford Page of Dalhart; grandchildren Amber Dawn Ford of Dalhart, Melissa Stegall of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Brent Stegall of Lubbock, and Nick Pearson and Justin Pearson, both of Spur; great-grandchildren Austyn Hart, Ryan Richmier, Sebastion Gonzales, Shadowe (Shannon) Rawlings, Chelsea Stegall (Miguel E.), Zayden Pearson and Alex Stegall; several great-greatgrandchildren; brother Pat Powell of Silver City, Texas; sister Sue Bennett of Kansas City, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at First Baptist Church, 1000 East 16th Street, Dalhart, with Reverend Curtis Alba and Pastor Ben Froese officiating. The burial will be at Dalhart Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Horizon Funeral Home, 701 Elm Avenue, Dalhart.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 1000 East 16th Street, Dalhart, Texas 79022.
