Rangers fall to Wolverines

PATTON SPRINGS CASTING LONG SHADOWS in a tough loss to Springlake-Earth last Thursday, Sept. 27 in Crosbyton.

The Patton Springs Rangers met up with the Spring-lake-Earth Wolverines in Crosbyton on Thursday, Sept. 27. The atmosphere was intense from the beginning, as the game was to be played as 6-man football in the first half and 8-man football in the second half. The Wolverines came out on fire, recovering an on-side kick in the first play of the game. They then followed with a 40-yard touchdown reception. The Rangers answered strong, scoring on their first possession as well. The call and response continued until halftime, leaving the Rangers trailing Springlake-Earth by 4 points with the score 34-30 at the end of the half. During the second half, the Wolverines catapulted into the lead and attempted to shut the Rangers down with 3 back-to-back touchdowns. The Rangers fought back in the fourth quarter scoring 2 touchdowns but it wasn’t enough. Springlake-Earth won this matchup with a final score of 77-43. The Rangers look to square up against Kingdom Prep on Thursday, Oct. 4 in Wilson.
