Lucy Lee Browning (Webb), 1947–2020

Lucy Lee Browning (Webb) went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2020, at the age of 92. Lucy was born on April 1, 1928 in Brownfield, Texas, to George Purl, Sr. and Myrtle Iowne Webb. She was the twelfh of 13 children.

Lucy married Delmer C. Browning on April 5, 1947, in Clairemont, Texas. They made their home on a farm a few miles west of Girard. They welcomed their son, Bruce, in 1948 and daughter, Jennice, in 1957.

Lucy was an avid gardener, reader and homemaker. She spent countless hours canning and freezing the harvest from her garden. She enjoyed sewing and baking. Nothing brought her more joy than cooking and spending time with her family.

Lucy was a woman of God and spent many hours studying her Bible and singing hymns. She was a member of the Highway 70 Church of Christ in Spur.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer; her son, Bruce; twelve siblings and her parents.

She is survived by daughter Jennice Cargile and husband, Mike; granddaughter Shayla Rose and husband Jason; grandson Jared Faubus; granddaughter Gina Gruben; grandsons Robert, Aaron, Joe and Avery Browning; granddaughter Kristen Jasso and husband Gilbert; grandson Ross Cargile; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the White River Youth Camp, Hospice of Lubbock, or the Children’s Home of Lubbock.

Graveside services were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at Fluvanna Cemetery, Fluvanna, Texas, with Tommy Bailey officiating, under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.
