Abbott wants to increase illegal voting penalties

AUSTIN—Gov. Greg Abbott has asked the Texas Legislature to increase the penalty for illegal voting, adding the item to the third special session now underway. However, House Speaker Dade Phelan, R-Beaumont, quickly rejected the proposal, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

Spur welcomes all to National Night Out in Swenson Park Oct. 5

Continuing a tradition of several years in Spur, the Spur Area Chamber of Commerce invites community members of all ages and neighborhoods to a free picnic dinner in Swenson Park Tues., October 5, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. Hot dogs with all the fixins will be served at the Pavillion.
