According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs statistics, 45,418 of the 16.4 million Americans who served in the World War II are alive as of 2025. The website also reports that in 2020 there were over one million living Korean War era veterans.

Filing for county public office begins Nov. 8

Candidate filing dates are Nov. 8 through Dec. 8, 2025, for the following offices that are up for election/ re-election to 4-year terms in Texas counties in 2026. In Dickens County, Republican Party chair Jody Duggan will be accepting applications Monday afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m.
