The Summer Reading Program has wrapped up at the library, but the reading contest is still going through June 25. All book logs must be turned in by 3:00 p.m. on June 25, 2024 to be eligible for a ticket. We will draw the winning tickets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Dairy-free Cream Biscuits

There are many ways to achieve a great-tasting biscuit. In fact, there is a popular recipe in the South called cream biscuits that only has two ingredients. The concept is to combine heavy cream with self-rising flour. The heavy cream eliminates the need for butter.

Drought conditions ease slightly while heat dome returns

AUSTIN— Drought conditions across the state dropped a percentage point in May compared to the previous month, with 26% of the state in some stage of drought, primarily in West and South Texas and parts of the Panhandle.

Kent court continues health insurance for employees under same terms

In the first June meeting of the Kent County commissioners court, which had been rescheduled from June 10 to Wednesday, June 12, commissioners dealt with a range of issues from employee benefits to IT security for the sheriff’s department.

Spur ISD elects new officers in May meeting

In the regular monthly meeting of the Spur Independent School District board of trustees on May 28, the board recognized track state qualifier Margarito Pesina.
