Dickens County results in March 3 primary elections

In Dickens County, (unofficial) election returns were compiled Tuesday night by county clerk Danay Carnes, and in the contested Republican primary race for county commissioner, Pct. 2, incum- bent Mike Smith has won with 93 votes (60.93%) to challenger Casey Smith’s 61 (39.61%).

Spur’s Jim Whitefield, longtime GM of Cap Rock Telephone, passes away Feb. 18

“Someone who found a job, and a job he could do well” was one way that associates of Spur resident Jim—Jimmy to his friends—Whitefield remembered him following his death Feb. 18, 2026, at age 82.
