The following remarks were presented by Marcella Bilberry for the Spur Ex-Student Assocation at the Homecoming Assembly Saturday morning, Sept. 19. The Spur Exes since 1974 have selected one member of a reunion class each year to receive this top recognition.
KEEPSAKEWINNER The Kent County Lions Club held a Lone Star Cup T-shirt quilt give-a-way fundraiser in the weeks leading up to homecoming weekend. Every Thursday morning at 10, our library comes alive with laughter, learning, and little feet during Story Time for preschool-aged children. Joanna Bateman has been doing a fantastic job leading these sessions with heart and creativity.

Blooming Pearl Mushrooms with Herb Dipping Sauce

For those of you who love the umami flavor of a rich sautéed mushroom or perhaps a good steakhouse blooming onion, this recipe is for you. I don’t fry a lot of our foods, but this is one I will make an exception for. I use the concept of a blooming onion and apply it to preparing mushrooms.
