JAYTON MAYOR, JGISD SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES each spoke briefly at a lunchtime meet-and-greet at the Kent County Community Center April 22, even as early voting was getting underway across the street at the courthouse.
Mayoral candidates Joseph Buerkle and Cody Hall each focused on the importance of upgrading municipal drinking water and wastewater systems.
The event drew 52 people, who also heard from three of four Jayton-Girard ISD candidates: Bailey Chisum (married to Mary Kate, with three young children), Mckenzie Coulter Chisum (married to Kevin, with three daughters at JGISD), and Andy Vargas, Jr. (married to Becky, with five children enrolled at JGISD); candidate Stephen Collins did not participate.
Voters were reminded that since election day falls on Saturday, May 3, when several JGISD athletes will be competing at State track, to be sure and vote early before they head to Austin.
