Spur library’s shelves
Spur Homecoming 2024
was quite an event. I don’t know if anyone keeps up with numbers of visitors to homecoming, but it seemed to be one of the biggest crowds I have seen in a while.
The Friends of the Library would like to thank everyone who purchased one of the souvenir key rings or car coaster sets. We sold out of almost all that were made for the event! All of the proceeds go to the library. There are a few people who said they wanted a particular item, and for those not paid they will be at the library until the end of October. If they are not picked up by then I will post them on social media, available to someone else who might want to purchase them.
With homecoming over, it is time to get ready for Halloween. The library has many children’s books that are Halloween-themed to start getting into the spirit of the season. We also have adult fiction by Stephen King, Dean Koontz and other horror authors. You might want to pick up King’s newest collection of short stories, “You Like it Darker.” Just be sure to leave the lights on when reading stories by these authors, because you never know what lurks in the dark!
If you are a fan of radio and television personality Ryan Seacrest, you might be interested to know that he and his sister, Meredith Seacrest Leach, have collaborated on a children’s book. Illustrated by Bonnie Lu, “The Make-Believers” is a picture book that celebrates the surprising strength of a child’s wild, wonderful imagination and how it can change the whole world. Encourage little ones everywhere to imagine big, to dream far, and to always follow their hearts with this delightful book about the transformative power of play.
Those of you who have preschool-aged children, don’t forget that we have story time with Joanna every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. The little ones really enjoy the time spent here. They get to hear a story and do a craft with other little ones. It is a great way to introduce your child to others their age. For more information call the library at (806) 271-3714.
Check it out at the library.
