Patton Springs ISD board votes to extend interim superintendent’s contract

In the regular monthly meeting of the Patton Springs Independent School District on February 19 Interim Superintendent Sandra Ramirez presented and discussed enrollment and attendance, student awards and honors, maintenance, safety, security, housing and vehicles.

Ramirez also explained that the 2023 Property Values were not certified by the State Comptroller.

Kendal Blocker reported on the status of the insurance claims.

Ramirez also updated the school board on the status of the 2023-2024 school calendar revising minutes for the missed school day on January 17, 2024 and the late start on 2/12/24. A motion was made by board member Clayt Bridge, and board member Ronda Dalton made the second, to approve the revisions. The motion passed.

Board member Ernest Ramirez made the motion to approve the purchase of the portable building. Clayt Bridge made the second. The motion passed.

Bridge made the motion to approve purchase of a new Suburban and to keep the Ford pickup with plans to sell for parts via closed bid at a future date. Ernest Ramirez made the second. The motion passed.

Following discussion on a bond election no action was taken.

Following a closed session, Clayt Bridge made the motion to extend the employment agreement for James Stephens, Technology Director. David Keith made the second. The motion passed.

Ernest Ramirez made the motion to extend the employment agreement for Becky Hodges, Business Manager, and Ronda Dalton made the second. The motion passed.

Ronda Dalton made the motion to renew the contract for Sandra Ramirez, principal/teacher, subject to assignment. Clayt Bridge made the second. The motion passed 4-0, with Ernest Ramirez abstaining.

Attending the meeting were board members Gary Bridge, Clayt Bridge, Ronda Dalton, David Keith and Ernest Ramirez. Also attending were Interim Superintendent/Principal Sandra Ramirez and Business Manager Becky Hodges. Members of the public attending were Louise Sims, Kendal Blocker (TASB representative), Chris Barron, maintenance director, and James Stephens, technology director. Board members absent were Lana Burson and Shane Roberts.
