Spur ISD board elects officers in May meeting

In regular meeting of the Spur ISD board of brustees May 27, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., board members recognized the school’s 2025 UIL Academic State qualifiers, Brandon Garza-West and Leah Munoz.

The board also recognized State track qualifiers, JD Hamilton, Margarito Pesina, Joshua Ortiz, Ace Walker and Adrian Garza-West.

Elementary principal Joe Molina presented the board with the elementary report. Hisch school principal Tanya Phillips presented the board with the secondary report. Athletic Director Tate Clark presented the board with the athletic department report.

Notary April Ortiz administered the oath of office to newly elected (and reelected) board members Andrew Adams, Casey Smith and Terri Wyatt.

A motion was made by Cody Schmidt and seconded by Andrew Adams to elect Roy Sanchez as president, Pat Ortiz as vice president, and Casey Smith as Secretary. The motion passed, 7-0.

In discussions and presentations, Superintendent Craig Hamilton discussed with the board the Appraisal District preliminary values. He then presented the board with Covenant Medical Group contract agreement for athletic trainer.

Hamilton also discussed with the board the TEA District Vulnerable Assessment.

A motion was made by Casey Smith and seconded by Schmidt to approve the 2025-2026 extra duty stipends as presented. The motion passed, 7-0.

In personnel matters, a motion was made by Smith and seconded by Matt Humphreys to accept the resignations of faculty members Russell Conrad and Dana Conrad. The motion passed 7-0.

After no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:36 p.m.

Members present were Andrew Adams, Matt Humphreys Pat Ortiz, Roy Sanchez, Cody Schmidt, Casey Smith and Terri Wyatt.
