Although the large stone monument in front of the flagpole does not bear a date—and it’s probable the names of later veterans are not represented—here are those listed as “In Remembrance of the Veterans of All Wars and Military Actions Who Made the Supreme Sacrifice, with Grateful Appreciation from the Citizens of Dickens County.” The monument was placed by the American Legion Post 7242 and the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 44.
