Lorenzo to celebrate holiday on July 4

LORENZO—The Lorenzo Chamber of Commerce has a full day of activities planned for Thursday, July 4.

Events get underway at 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a pancake and sausage breakfast by the Lorenzo Senior Citizens at 502 Van Buren. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

The rest of the day’s festivities will take place in the Lorenzo City Park, located at 5th and Tyler. Events include: Cornhole tournament at 1:00 p.m. (To sign up, contact Martin Solis at 806-983-9091.) Music from DJ Richard Urrutia from 1:00 to 10:00 p.m. Kids games from 2 to 5 p.m. and food trucks from 2 to 5 p.m.

Crosbyton to hold July 4 events

CROSBYTON—The Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture will be hosting July 4 events at the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum grounds and inside the building at 101 W. Main Street.

Activities kick off at 10 a.m. with the Parade. (Line-up will be at the school.) Other scheduled events include a car show, from live music from West Texas Collective from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A cornhole tournament will start at 1:00 p.m., and there will be a water slide for youngsters throughout the day.

At 6:30 p.m. there will be a brown bag special and homemade ice cream for $7 to help pay for the fireworks, and fireworks get underway at dusk.

White River to have fireworks on July 4

WHITE RIVER LAKE—White River Marina has a lively holiday events coming up. On Thursday, July 4, the marina continues its traditions of a parade at 11 a.m. on Marina Road; music featuring the Kipp Wilks Bank from 6 to 9 p.m., and a fireworks show over the lake at dark.

Friday, July 5 features an open grill and BYOB, with music from 6 to 9 p.m. by the Legal Limit Band. Then, on Saturday, July 6, music will be provided by Matt Austin and The Accused.

PADUCAH —The Paducah Volunteer Fire Department is seeking donations to purchase fireworks for its annual July 4th Celebration at Dragon Football Stadium. No amount is too small to make a difference. Donations may be dropped off at either local bank, First United Bank or Wellington State Bank.

Roaring Springs sets July 4 festivities for July 6 

ROARING SPRINGS--Roaring Springs will be celebrating Independence Day on Saturday, July 6.

Events get underway at 9:00 a.m. with a program at Frank Mitchell Park. Lineup for the parade begins at 9:30 a.m., along with vendor setup at the community center.The parade begins at 10 a.m. in downtown Roaring Springs. At 11 a.m. food trucks will begin serving at the community center, followed by bingo at the community center at 1 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. there will be a barbecue dinner by the Roaring Springs Fire Department. At 8:00 p.m. there will be an ice cream social, and organizers welcome donations of homemade ice cream. The celebration culminates at dark with a fireworks display.

Turkey VFD sets Independence Day events for July 7 

TURKEY—The Turkey Volunteer Fire Department has set its annual Independence Day Celebration for Sunday, July 7.

They will be hosting a burgers-and-hot-dogs cookout in the park in downtownTurkey. Event organizers said that the 4th falling on a Thursday presented a scheduling problem, and they didn’t want any conflicts with the celebration being the same night as that of any neighboring fire departments. Also, their featured band was only available on July 7. The celebration will feature food, door prizes, live music from CecilWhite and Friends, and a fireworks show.The fireworks show will be even better this year, as the Turkey VFD had an extra $1,000 donated to the fireworks fund.
