Texas Writes, a statewide program from the Writers’ League of Texas that brings accomplished authors to rural libraries for a half day focused on the craft of writing, will be in Spur Saturday, May 14 at 10 a.m. at the Dickens County-Spur Public Library.
The event will feature novelist Tex Thompson presenting “Writers of the Purple Sage: Adding Western Elements to Your Work” and WLT director Becka Oliver presenting “The Path to Publication.”
Activities begin at 10 a.m. with presentations and will conclude with a conversation between both presenters.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments are provided. To pre-register for this event, contact the library at (806) 271-3714.
Supported by a grant from the Tocker Foundation, Texas Writes launched in 2013 with five visits to libraries in Central Texas. Nearly a decade later, the program has hosted more than 75 visits and reached countless writers across the state.
