ALL SPIFFED UP AT ALLSUP’S In Spur last week, contractors painted pumps, upgraded signage, and installed a new canopy with the Valero fuel branding. It was not immediately apparent how long the new logo has been in use, but stores throughout Texas are beginning to feature it. According to the website Logos-World. net, Valero Energy Corporation came into existence in 1980, rising from the Lo-Vaca Gathering Company, a natural gas pipeline subsidiary of the Coastal Corporation based in Houston. The company’s name is inspired by Mission San Antonio de Valero, originally known as the historic Alamo. Valero has evolved into an emblem of Texas’ rich history. | THE TEXAS SPUR
