ARGO BLOCKCHAIN’S HELIOS FACILITY recently reported progress in staff training as well as construction progress on its 126,000-square-foot cryptocurrency mining operation in northern Dickens County. In an earlier tweet showing Argo staffers lunching at TC’S Ponderosa Barbecue in Dickens, Argo CEO Peter Wall said, “Crypto mining is not just about reliable machines and low-cost renewables power — It’s also about having the best people!”
For a March 22, 2022 New York Times article, “Bitcoin Miners Want to Recast Themselves as Eco-Friendly,” Wall provided the Times a tour of the Helios plant. Wall told the Times that in the future, “Argo plans to build its own solar panels on site in Texas and broker deals with local renewables companies to buy energy directly.” Renewable energy resources are what drew Argo to West Texas to begin with, Wall said. “This is Bitcoin mining nirvana. You look off into the distance and you’ve got your renewable power.”
