Batter up! Spur Little League steps up to the plate April 3

The American Pastime returns to Spur with the first pitch of Little League being thrown this Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Spur Little League field ini Swenson Park as the Spur 50/70 team coached by Pat Ortiz takes on O’Donnell.

The very existence of games marks quite a triumph after the infamous coronavirus ravaged Little Leagues across the world last year. To see kids back out on the diamond comes with more than just its usual nostalgia; this year it also brings the grateful joy of the return of what was once routine and normal.

Spur Little League would like to especially thank all of the sponsors who stuck with the organization through the 2020 season, allowing teams to play again this year. We encourage everyone to view the banners on the fence and support those businesses.

In 2021 Spur Little League, which encompasses both Jayton and Spur, fields 10 teams. Spur has two T-ball teams, two Coach Pitch teams, a 50/70 team, and a Junior League team.

Jayton will field a T-ball team, a Coach Pitch team, a 9-10 minors team, and a 50/70 team. In all, more than 100 youngsters from ages 3 to 15 will take their turn rounding third and heading for home in what promises to be a wonderful season.
