Star Feed & Seed of Spur held its 2021–22 Big Buck Contest throughout deer season, with hunters harvesting animals in Dickens and adjoining counties eligible. Winners were announced last week in several categories.
Overall White-Tail Division
Chris Poe, a Fort Worth resident, shot his buck in early November 2021 in Dickens County. Poe’s buck scored 172.00. The main beams measured 22.5 and 22.0. Left side rack score was 58.25 and right side rack score was 57.0. The circumference scores were 16.50 and 21.625. Inside spread measured 18.625. Poe received a $1,000 prize and a monogrammed winner’s jacket.
Straight 8 Division
The 2021–22 Straight 8 winner was JC Stelzer from Post, Texas, who killed his 8-point buck in Kent County in mid-December 2021. Stelzer’s buck had a total score of 146. Left side measurement was 48.125" and right side measurement was 48.5". Left side circumference was 15.875", with ride side circumference being 15.50". Inside spread was 18.0". Main beam on left side was 26.0" and left side main beam was 24.625".
Stelzer received a $1,000 prize and a winner’s monogrammed jacket.
Bow Division
Star Feed & Seed’s 2021–22 Big Buck Winner, Bow Division, was Rob Key from Liverpool, Texas. Key killed his buck in late November 2021 in Kent County, Texas. Key’s buck had a total score of 159. Left side score was 54.75" and the right side main beam score was 52.75". Left side main beam had 25.5" and right side main beam had 26.375". Left circumference score was 17.5" and right circumference score was 16.875" Inside spread was 17.125". Key took home a monogrammed winner’s jacket.
Mule Deer Division
The 2021–22 Mule Deer Division winner was Josiah Phillips. Phillips, a Crosby County resident, killed his mule buck in late November 2021 in Crosby County. Phillips’ buck had a left side score of 65.25", with the main beam having 23.5". The right side scored 70.50", with the main beam having 23.125". Left circumference scored 16.625" and right circumference scored 16.75". Inside spread was 23.75". Phillips received a monogrammed winner’s jacket.
Big Pig Division
Star Feed & Seed’s Big Buck Contest 2021-2022 Winner-Big Pig Division is Tristan Smith. Smith, a Crosby County resident, killed a hog that weighed 222 pounds! Smith won a monogrammed winner’s jacket.
