Big Country Electric Cooperative’s Member Appreciation Open House

Cooperative (BCEC) invites members to stop by their local BCEC office in Roby, Snyder or Stamford Tuesday, September 27, for Member Appreciation Day Open House. Come and Go. From 4 to 7 p.m. there will be delicious snacks, energy efficiency kits, and door prize drawings for co-op members who stop by!

Attendees should be sure to bring their registration card, which is detachable from the top back cover of the September “Texas Co-op Power” magazine and annual report. This card serves as a ticket to register for door prizes that you won’t want to miss! Additionally, BCEC staff will be on hand to visit with co-op members, provide information, and answer any questions.

Member Appreciation Open House is held in conjunction with the co-op’s Virtual Annual Meeting. Each BCEC member has the opportunity to vote in director elections through September 23.

Why a virtual annual meeting?

As a member-owned not-for-profit electric cooperative, BCEC takes very seriously our responsibility to wisely manage its operating funds. With the high cost of groceries, the cooperative anticipated significantly increased expenses to produce its traditional in-person annual meeting and BBQ meal. The organization also anticipated a decline in attendance at a traditional annual meeting due to the increased cost of fuel.

Considering these factors as well as the high rate of participation in the BCEC 2021 director election conducted via mail in ballot and online vote submission, the board of dDirectors and leadership agreed that a Virtual Annual Meeting was the prudent decision.

However, the coop values face-toface contact with members and know that many members desire that as well, which is why they ae hosting an Open House on the same day as our Virtual Annual Meeting.
