The Bob Wills Foundation announced last week that their plans for the annual April event in 2021 have been cancelled due to concerns about the Covid-19 pandemic.
The BWD Foundation posted a letter on their Facebook page that said, “After a lot of discussions amongst ourselves and with our local and county officials, we have come to the decision to postpone Bob Wills Day until April 2022.”
Organizers noted in their statement feedback from attendees that found that the off-cycle October event was not the same, and they would prefer that the celebration be in April.
So rather than have a scaled down version of the 50th Anniversary, the foundation chose to delay the celebration until 2022.
Organizers hope to continue to celebrate swing music in 2021 with virtual events in April and in the fall.
