Drivers on state highways in Dickens and Kent Counties have had to find alternate routes recently for TxDOT bridge improvements or replacements.
Recently, drivers between Spur and Post accustomed to taking FM261 across White River in Kalgary have encountered Road Closed signs. Fortunately, the detour around to White River Lake isn’t a long one.
According to TxDOT’s DriveTexas.org website, the roadway closure on FM 261 for Bridge Rebuild at White River, affecting east and westbound traffic, is expected to end on Sept. 9, 2024.
The good news? For those who formerly traveled SH 208 from Spur or Jayton via Clairemont to reach Snyder and points beyond but have been affected by the road closure on that route, the closure was expected to end on Oct. 31.
