Spur traveled to play #2-ranked Westbrook last Friday. The Bulldogs gave it all but came up short with a final score of 52–6.
Theyoungplayersfought hard and never gave up as they battled the Westbrook Wildcats for their homecoming.
The Wildcats won the toss electing to receive the ball to start the game. The Bulldogs were able to make some good defensive plays against the Wildcats. JD Hamilton and Preston Abbott led the tackles for the team. Despite the efforts of the team defense, Westbrook scored.
The offense for the Bulldogs was impressive to watch as they battled as a team and changed up some plays. Hamilton was able to return a kickoff for a 54-yard touchdown, putting the Bulldogs on the board late in the second quarter. The game would end with the mercy rule at halftime with the score of 52–6.
Coach Tate Clark said, “It’s another game for us to use to get better. We were able to create some more depth by putting the kids in uncomfortable positions. I think once we are healthy things will start to roll.”
The Bulldogs still have several injured players; this puts young players on the field, but the Bulldogs are battling adversity as a team. This week is Homecoming for Spur. The hometown team will play Anton at Jones Stadium in Spur on Friday, September 22 at 7:30 p.m.
