State Representative Dustin Burrows (R-Lubbock) plans to visit Jayton Dec. 1 as part of a tour to introduce himself to communities that will shift to his district as of the March 2022 state election.
He will hold a town hall with lunch provided at the Kent County Community Center in Jayton at 11:30 a.m, Wednesday, Dec.1. Plans are still tentative for a breakfast town hall in Dickens County the following week. The public is welcome at any of these events.

The redistricting maps approved by the Texas legislature in October remove Gaines from the district and add Dickens and Kent Counties, as well as Crosby and Garza.
The counties added to HD 83 will shift from the current HD 68, represented since early 2021 by David Spiller, R-Jacksboro. Spiller will con tinue to represent his current constituents until January 1, 2023, when the winner of the November 2022 election is sworn into office.

According to Wikipedia, Burrows graduated from Lubbock’s Monterey High School and then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001 from Rhodes College, a private college in Memphis, Tennessee, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America. In 2004, Burrows received a Master of Business Administration from the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University in Lubbock and a Juris Doctor from the Texas Tech University School of Law. He and his father, Dennis Ray Burrows (born 1947), are in private partnership together.

An active Republican since 2008, Burrows was named by the party leadership to succeed Charles Perry as the party nominee for the Texas House after Perry won the contest to succeed veteran Senator Robert L. Duncan.
