Throughout 2023, state parks all across Texas have planned special events to mark the park system’s centennial. At Caprock Canyons State Park in Quitaque, plans have been under way for some time for a celebration at the home of the Texas State Bison Herd.
“ Experience Caprock!,” on Sat., May 6, is an all-day event beginning at 10 a.m. with beginner courses in hiking and fishing, along with a variety of educational activities and informational booths. The schedule of events starts at 10 a.m. and continues until after dark. All programs and activities are free.
Educational activities, informational booths, and self-guided activities including geocaching will be offered all day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Detailed event locations and times will be available as handouts inside the Visitors Center.
This is one of many 100-year celebration events happening in Texas State Parks this year. Entry to a park is free on the day it hosts an official 100-Year celebration event (applies to day passes only). Guarantee entry by reserving your free day pass before this special event.
