The Spur Golf Association Board of Directors gathered for the regular monthly meeting on May 11, 2022.
There are so many great things happening at our course now and in the future, we can’t wait to share everything with you! Details are being lined out and will be released soon! The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8th at 6 p.m. in the Clubhouse. Anyone and everyone is invited to attend!
We are looking for volunteers to help with things around the course. We are asking that anyone that can be available to show up on Mondays at 5:00 p.m., or as soon as you can, to help with some tasks such as picking up trash and limbs, cleaning up bathrooms and clubhouse, etc.! Nothing huge but just things that need to be done for the betterment of the course! If you have a little extra time, come out and pitch in!!
The 3rd Annual Hackers Tournament is quickly approaching, on May 21 and 22. If you have not yet gotten your 2-person scramble team signed up, you need to do that as quickly as possible because it is nearly full! I promise that it will be two days of fun and making memories. There might be a little trash talking, too, and that it will all be in good fun! Contact Tyler Luke at (806) 269-1606 or Landon White at (806) 422-0090 to get your team entered.
All board members, along with course members, have raffle tickets to sell. The grand prize is a 2022 Club Car Onward, which is a really nice cart that somebody will get to take home and claim as their own. Second prize is a Ping G425 Max Driver. Third Prize is an Odyssey White Hot Putter. These are all great prizes and everyone needs in on a chance to win! The drawing will take place on September 24 at the end of the 4-person schamble. You need not be present to win.
MAY 10TH SCRAMBLE RESULTS
What a great night it was for Golf scramble Tuesday! Five teams were formed and two places were recognized.
There were teams on fire, and the competition was fierce. The team of Tyler Luke, Aubrey Luke, Daniel, Perez, Ron Young and Larry Bass, along with the team of Seth McMinn, Wes Joplin, and Eddie and Lesli Clark both came back to the clubhouse after the regular round having shot 7 under par with a score of 29. With the teams tying, it was determined that a playoff was needed.
After a tough three-hole playoff, the team of Luke, Luke, Perez, Young and Bass took home the bragging rights for the week after Larry Bass sunk a beaul birdie putt.
Congratulations to Russell Conrad for his drive landing on Hole No. No.1 at 20 feet 6 inches from the hole.
Shout-out to Daniel Perez for his drive landing 13 feet 11 inches from the hole on No. 8!
The biggest “issue” at the course right now is the lack of rain. Every course in the area is experiencing the same issue, and SGA is no exception. So, y’all keep praying hard for rain! I know the Lord is going to provide! I don’t know when He is going to provide, but I know He will.
As I close for this week, I am going to leave you with this thought. . . “Sometimes the biggest problem is in your head. You’ve got to believe!” —Jack Nicklaus
Until next week – GOD BLESS AND KEEP BELIEVING AND PRAYING!
