The regular monthly Board meeting of the Spur Golf Association was held on June 8, 2022.

With lots of hard work and time, the greens are continuing to improve. Thank you to all who have been helping with this huge ongoing task. It is very much appreciated.

Workdays are held each Monday at 5 p.m. to help with chores such as picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms and clubhouse, etc. If you have some extra time on your hands, come out and help for a bit so that course can continue to improve for the use and enjoyment of our community.

There will be a membership drive during the month of July with the new member fee of $50 being waived.

The current membership rates are as follows:

$30 per month for a single membership

$50 per month for a family membership

$10 per month for cart shed rental

The Debbie Daughtry Memorial 3-person tournament will be held June 25 and 26. The entry fee is $300 per team. The morning tee off time is 9 a.m. The afternoon round will tee off at 2 p.m. The payback will be 50% with added money. The remaining proceeds will fund the Debbie Daughtry Memorial Scholarship Fund which is awarded through the Spur Ex-Students Association. A Calcutta will be held Saturday evening following the afternoon round. A meal will be provided. Please contact Andy Daughtry at (325) 260-7640 or Robert Daughtry (806) 422-1058 to enter.

Also coming up is the Fat Daddy’s 3-man scramble which will be held on Saturday, July 30. The entry fee is $150 per team. Sign-in begins at 8 a.m. Tee off is at 9:30 a.m. A meal will be provided. Contact Tyler Luke (806) 269-1606 or Landon White at (806) 422-0090 to get your team signed up today.

SGA board members and some members are selling raffle tickets for a 2022 Club Car Onward. Second prize is a Ping G425 Max Driver. Third Prize is an Odyssey White Hot Putter. The tickets are $100 each and the drawing will take place on Saturday, September 24 following the 4-person Scramble. You need not be present to win.

The next regular Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 13, at 6 p.m. in the clubhouse. All members are welcome and invited to attend.

Golf Scramble Results June 14

It was a hot one for Scramble Time Tuesday! Four teams came out to endure the heat and have a little fun. Two places were paid out.

Taking home first place bragging rights for the week was the team of Jimmy Ashley, Mike and Janie Day, Wes Joplin and Derek Ninneman with their score of 31.

Coming in Second Place was the team of Floyd and Sue Starkey, Daniel Perez, Cammie Day Walker and Bobby Condron with a score of 32.

Congratulations to Mike Day for landing his drive 16 feet from the No. 8 hole and taking home the closest to the pin weekly winnings.

Hole No. 1 money pot will keep continuing to grow until someone lands a drive!
