Craft night returns to Spur library Nov. 14

Texas came to the library a year or so ago to speak on the subject of wills and other end of life documents. We are in the process of getting them back to the library to present the program again. Connie Lawrence does such a good job at trying to get everyone’s questions answered after the program! Keep watch on our social media page and here in the library notes for an exact date and time. If there are any programs you would like to see the library have, please let us know.

The Friends of the Library book sale continues in the lobby of the library. There are still many great titles and authors to choose from. The hardcover books are on special now through the end of November for four for a dollar. That is just a quarter a piece! Paperback books are fill a bag for free! What an awesome deal. Right now is the time to stock up on some great reads for the coming cold months.

Join Charlotte Sprayberry here at the library on Monday Nov. 14, at 5:30 p.m. for a evening of crafting fun. Have you ever heard of a ‘Find It?’ If not, come join in and Charlotte will explain it to us. Supplies will be furnished, so just bring yourself and a friend or two.

New to our shelves in large print juvenile fiction is Newberry Medalist Katherine Applegate’s “Odder.” Odder is a fearless daredevil, curious to a fault. When Odder comes face to face with a hungry white shark, her life takes a dramatic turn, one that will challenge everything she believes about herself.

Also new in large print juvenile fiction is the finale to Newberry medalist Meg Medina’s trilogy with “Merci Suarez Plays it Cool.” Medina follows Merci Suarez into an eighth-grade year full of changes, involving friendships, new responsibilities, and heartbreaking loss.

The library would like to congratulate Barbara Brannon on winning the Copper Medallion for “The Wolf Hunt: A Tale of the Texas Badlands,” written under the pseudonym Will Brandon, in the category of Western Mystery at the 2022 Will Rogers Medallion Awards. The awardwinning novel is available to check out in regular or large print at the library.

Also in large print Western fiction we have William W. and J.A. Johnstone’s “Forever Texas: A Thrilling Western Novel of the American Frontier.” Based on real events and the true history of the legendary King Ranch of South Texas, this riveting historical adventure evokes the reality of life on the Texas frontier, as one pioneering family battles to forge a new life and carve out their own piece of the American West.

Check it all out at the library.
