The countdown to Valentine’s Day is on, and the big day is less than two weeks away. For florists the occasion is their busiest holiday of the year, and with Valentine’s Day falling on a Monday, if you want to bestow something special, give yourself—and your florist— enough time to arrange just the right bouquet or gift.
The Spur area’s own florist, His & Hers Florists, Gifts and Salon, located at 622 E. Hill in Spur, stands ready to help you out. They will be delivering Valentine’s flowers and gifts on February 12 and February 13, in addition to the big day itself.
Kassi Bradford and Linda Bradford with His & Hers have been offering flowers for all occasions for four years in this location.
But just because Spur has its own florist doesn’t mean you should procrastinate getting the perfect present.
“I’ve seen men come in on Valentine’s Day evening and try to order flowers,” Kassi said, laughing, “but to get the best arrangement or gift possible, people need to order by the Wednesday before Valentine’s Day.” That would be Wednesday, Feb. 9.
Valentine’s Day is a holiday on which children of all ages send flowers and plants to parents, and parents send gift baskets, with candy and plush animals and flowers to children, and of course, those romantically inclined will dispatch a dozen, longstemmed red roses.
His & Hers can handle all of that—right out of their cozy shop in Spur.
A few folks may be allergic to certain flowers or plants, and His & Hers has options for those as well. “We have spa gift baskets,” Linda said. This gift has lotions and other items for self-care and pampering. We have gift baskets with candy and plush animals, too.”
For those who still consider this area home but live far away, you can call His & Hers at (806) 271-3437. (This is a great way for adult children to show aging parents that they’re thinking of them.) Kassi said it’s common for the shop to get calls for Valentine’s Day gift deliveries as far away as California.
Even though His & Hers gets dozens and dozens of calls every Valentine’s Day week, they still deliver to Jayton, Spur and Dickens.
Nearby areas without florists, such as Roaring Springs, Matador or Guthrie, have options too. They can come in and pick up, Kassi said. She said that His & Hers will also have gift baskets, plants and arrangements already made so up that people can come into the shop to choose the perfect Valentine’s Day present.
