Dickens 4-H seniors win scholarships

County 4-H members will be heading off to college with their wallets a little fuller this fall. Gunnir Bateman and Melania Ramirez were both recipients of Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarships.

Bateman received a $20,000 dollar Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship, and Ramirez received a $10,000 dollar McLean Foundation scholarship. The Texas 4-H Foundation scholarships are awarded to 4-H members based on an extensive application and interview process. The award winners must have had several years of various project experiences, leadership roles, and community service at all levels, county, district and state. they must also have top grades.

The Texas 4-H Foundation awarded 230 scholarships worth a total of over 2.7 million dollars.
