This past week Dickens County state qualifiers attended state 4-H Roundup in Bryan. 4-H members included Melania Ramirez, Diezel Ramirez, Tory Childers, Kyle Schledwitz, Mackenzie Gardner, Jaydee Foster and Lyndee Foster. The youngsters competed in multiple events throughout the week, including Ag Product I.D., Horse Judging, Food Challenge, Educational Presentations, and Duds To Dazzle.
The 4th-place Food Challenge Team of Diezel Ramirez, Melania Ramirez and Kyle Schledwitz represented the club at an extremely competitive contest. “They deserve special recognition for the hours of work they put into this over the year,” said county extension agent Rusty Lanier. judging team of Jaydee Foster, Lyndee Foster, and Mackenzie Garder earned 15th place. Lanier offered “a special shoutout for these three at having a great set of reasons.”
Lanier added, “We are still waiting on results for our other contests, but our kids represented Dickens County at the highest level possible. We are proud of all the effort and work they put into it this year.”
