Dickens Commission approve bid for tiny house/lots gift in Sept. meeting

In the regular monthly meeting of the Dickens County Commission Monday, Sept. 13, sealed bids for the gift deed property of a tiny house and two lots in Spur were opened and considered by the court.

The court voted to accept the bid of Neel Sanghi in the amount of $9,800.00 for Lot 1, Block 16 of the Original Town of Spur, Dickens County Texas and Lots 13 and 14, Block 16 of the Original Town of Spur, Dickens County.

In other court action, commissioners voted unanimously to adopt the tax rate of 0.85 (0.70 General and 0.15 for road and bridge).

The court also voted unanimously to approve the sheriff’s fee schedule for 2022.

Justice of the peace Nancy Stone asked the court if she could rescind her resignation from her position, which she had previously tendered due to personal reasons, and commissioners voted unanimously to rescind the resignation.

The court voted unanimously to approve up to $10,000 from the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund for Valley Water to purchase a backup generator.

Commissioners approved an order by the treasurer to deduct indebtedness from pay as stated in Texas Local Government Code 154.025.

The court approved the purchase an MG-140 AWD JY from Warren Cat for Precinct #2.

Commissioners approved county membership to the National Association of Counties.

The implementation of comp time for employees was discussed by the court. No action taken.

The court agreed to move the October commissioners’ court meeting from October 11 to October 8 at 9:00 a.m.

The commissioners approved action on claims incurred against the county since the last court session.

• County Commissioners reported on road conditions in their precincts.

• The Adoption of Resolution authorizing county grant for the South Dickens County Senior Citizens home delivered meals program.

• Memorandum of Agreement with Helen Farabee Centers Regional MHMR.

• Interlocal Agreement with Lubbock County for services provided by the Regional Public Defender for capital cases.

• Repair cost for the Sheriff’s Office generator, which exceeds the county spending limit.

• Cost to provide Copsync capabilities for the sheriff’s office.

• The cost for radio repeater switchover by South Plains Communications that exceeds the county spending policy.

• Renewal of Planned Maintenance Agreement with Clifford Power was presented for approval. • The cost for four truck/ trailer tires for Precinct #2 was presented for approval.

• Precinct #2 motor grader repair cost was submitted for approval.

• The purchase of Blu-Def for Precincts #1 & #2 was submitted for approval.

• Depository Contract with Spur Security Bank as authorized by Section 116.021 (a) of the Local Government Code.

Members present were county judge Kevin Brendle; commissioners Dennis Wyatt, Precinct #1, Mike Smith, Precinct 2, Charlie Morris, Precinct #3, and Jerry Alexander, Precinct #4; Becky Hill, county clerk; and Darla Thomason, treasurer.
