In the regular monthly meeting of the Dickens County commissioners court on August 14, commissioners voted unanimously to approve recommendation made by Texas AgriLife Extension Service District Administrator Lorrie Coop to hire Amanda Spiva for the Dickens CEAANR position.
Ruby Combs presented the Dickens Museum annual report, and Donnice Carruth presented the Spur Dickens County Library annual report.
Afterwards, Harry Bob Martin presented the Dickens County Historical Commission Annual Report, and the CHC was presented with the annual Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission.
In other action commissioners voted unanimously to use ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds for radio equipment and installation.
Danay Carnes, county and district clerk, discussed employment of deputy county and district clerk. Commissioners unanimously approved a bond from Goen & Goen for the deputy county and district clerk.
The court voted unanimously regarding marking of Sheriff’s Office vehicles, which are now to display visible permanent signs on all vehicles.
In other action, the court voted unanimously to table bidsforacarportoneastside of the courthouse Annex.
In other initiatives, commissioners voted unanimously to approve an increase in juror pay to $20 per day for day one and $58 per day thereafter for petit jury service.
The court voted unanimously to approve Interlocal Agreement for E9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Pint Services.
Commissioners reviewed the Sheriff Department’s Limited Compliance Review from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.
The court then voted unanimously to approve the Order of Special Election on November 7, 2023.
