In the regular monthly meeting of the Dickens County Commissioners on May 8, the court discussed the impact of the hail during the severe thunderstorm April 25. The court discussed the Annex Storm Shelter Procedures and voted unanimously to give the county judge the discretion to install remote entrance access to the county annex at a cost not to exceed $5,000. Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the cost to repair vehicles, equipment and structures caused by hail damage.
In other court action, commissioners approved departmental reports and approved cost of repairs to the Precinct 1 and Precinct 2 front-end loaders that will exceed county spending policy and repairs to Precinct 1 and Precinct 2 trucks that will exceed county spending policy.
Commissioners approved the purchase of parts for the 2016 Caterpillar motor grader that will exceed the county spending policy and approved the purchase of tires for the Precinct 3 and 4 Chevrolet pickup that will exceed the county spending policy.
In other action commissioners unanimously approved the agreement on use of 4H building and unanimously approved the Interlocal Cooperation Contract with the Department of Health Services.
Commissioners unanimously approved Terralogic’s bid for scanning probate records in the County case system and unanimously approved the use of the County Records Management Account to pay for scanning probate records into the county case system.
The court discussed preliminary property valuations for 2023. No action was taken.

In other court discussion, County Judge Kevin Brendle told the court that he had been appointed one of the co-chairs of a task force that will look at the expansion of Highway 82.
