Dickens Commissioners hear fire departments’ annual reports

In the regular monthly meeting of the Dickens County Commissioners Court on July 10 first responders Will Humphreys, Dickens VFD; Mac Gardner, McAdoo VFD; Debi Gardner, Dickens County EMS; and Wes Abbott, Spur VFD presented annual reports for their departments.

No action was taken on procedures for allocating funds to the Spur Volunteer Fire Department.

In other court action, the court voted unanimously to approve the Interlocal Agreement for Provision of Election Equipment.

Commissioners also approved unanimously all sealed bids for dyed diesel, unleaded gasoline, and propane.

Next, the court voted unanimously to designate Kevin Brendle, County Judge, the Dickens County Records management officer.

Commissioners also discussed the Budget Calendar and reviewed ARPA funds. No action was taken.

The court also voted unanimously to go with paper packets for commissioner’s court.

• Minutes of June 12 and 26, 2023 were reviewed, finding a deficiency in the June 12, 2023, minutes.

• Sheriff’s Department report, Sheriff Terry Braly

• Justice of the Peace report, Patti Hagar

• Tax Office report, Rebecca Haney, Tax Assessor Collector

• County and District Clerk’s office report, Danay Carnes

• County Treasurer’s report, Brandi Abbott

• 4H Adult leader’s report, Ronda Dalton

• EMC’s report, Matt Hindman

• Approvalof21%Federal Poverty Guidelines minimum income standard as the Dickens Co. Indigent Health care monthly income statement.

• Approval of purchase of tires for the equipment trailer that will exceed the county spending policy.

• Approval of cost to repair air conditioning units at courthouse that will exceed the county spending policy.

• Approval of cost to replace lights for Precinct 1 and 2 barn that will exceed the county spending policy.

• County Commissioners’ road conditions reports in their precincts. Members present were County Judge Kevin Brendle; commissioners, Dennis Wyatt, Precinct #1, Mike Smith, Precinct #2, Charlie Morris, Precinct #3, Greg Arnold, Precinct #4; County Clerk Danay Carnes; and Treasurer Brandi Abbott.
