According to social media posts earlier this month, new owners have renovated and repurposed the Double H Motel at 200 U.S. 82 in Dickens.
The single-story, oldschool motor hotel had long been a mainstay for travelers along the busy but sparsely built-out corridor between Lubbock and larger cities to the east. But in recent years, while the Bhakta family resided on-site, it had seen less patronage and received a few unflattering reviews. A highway-facing room damaged by a vehicle accident remained unrepaired for months.
“We bought it a couple weeks ago,” business partner Carissa Clark posted recently, confirming the purchase.
The property has since been freshened up and offered on Booking.com.

Please be aware that both Google Maps and Apple Maps show the property as ‘Permanently Closed.’ The property is not closed, and is fully functional under our new name.
US-82 in Dickens, and is perfectly situated to reach northern Texas towns like Spur, Guthrie and Matador. It also provides easy highway access for travel to larger cities like Lubbock and Fort Worth.
Dickens Country Stays can cater to both short or long-term lodging options. It features a total of 15 units (and growing) comprising 1 house, 6 single-bed units, 7 double-bed units, and 1 triple-bed unit.
We have free on-site parking, a 24-hour remote check in option, and a property manager that can be on site throughout the day when needed. The new keypad door knobs offer easy and secure access to each unit, and a simple check in and check out process.
