In the regular monthly meeting of the Dickens County commissioners court on August 8, 2022, librarian Donnice Carruth presented the Spur Dickens County Library annual report.
Harry Bob Martin, chair of the Dickens County Historical Commission, presented the DCHC annual report. The DCHC was presented with the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission.
On a motion by commissioner Mike Smith and second by commissioner Charlie Morris, the court unanimously approved the Renewal of Texas Association of Counties 2023 Retiree Medical Program as presented to the court.
The court tabled a proposal for a cost to feed and trim trees at the county courthouse and annex buildings.
A motion was made by Morris with second by Smith to approve Option A regarding the imposition of Optional Fees for Texas Department of Motor Vehicles for calendar year 2023. The motion passed unanimously.
Morris made the motion to approve all bids received on in-trust properties. Jerry Alexander seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The court then recessed at 10:00 a.m. and reconvened at 10:08 a.m.
The commissioners discussed and made changes to the proposed budget. Changes were to be reflected in the proposed budget brought to the public hearing on Monday, August 22, 2022.
The court discussed the planning process for utilizing ARPA funds.
In other business, the court approved payment of claims incurred against the county since the last session.
