Dickens proposes $125,000 for Spur pool

The Dickens County Commissioners’ Court met in special session for purposes of a budget workshop and a special agenda on Monday, July 30, 2018, with these members present: County Judge Kevin Brendle, commissioners Dennis Wyatt (Precinct 1), Mike Smith (Precinct 2), Charlie Morris (Precinct 3), and Sheldon Parsons (Precinct 4), and County Treasurer Darla Thomason.

Chief Appraiser Patti Abbott reviewed the 2018 certified values with the court which reflect an increase of over $16 million from 2017.

Next a budget workshop was conducted to prepare a proposed budget to be filed with the clerk by July 31, 2018. Special expenditures include a contingency line item of $125,000 to contribute to the Spur Swimming Pool efforts. A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for August 20, 2018.

Wyatt moved to pay the increased county portion of the employee health insurance premium. The increase equaled approximately $25.00 per employ taking the county policy. The motion was seconded by Mike Smith and passed unanimously.

A motion to approve a lease agreement with the City of Dickens for Block 103, Lot 4 (emergency services tower) was made by Morris and seconded by Parsons. The motion massed unanimously.

After reviewing the loss report on the wrecked Precinct 1 truck, Parsons moved to authorize Wyatt to look for a replacement truck for Precinct

1. The motion was seconded by Morris. The motion passed unanimously. Upon receipt of the damage appraisal on the Precinct 1 belly dump, Morris made a motion to repair the Precinct 1 belly dump. It was seconded by Parsons. The motion passed unanimously.
