Since May 2022, when pastor Jake Edwards accepted a call to serve a church elsewhere in Texas, Jayton’s First Baptist Church has been formulating plans for a pulpit search. On their social media this week, the congregation posted an official notice of a search.
“First Baptist Church Jayton is searching for a fulltime senior Pastor to shep- herd our thriving small-town church. We are a multi-generational church with significant involvement from many young committed families who make up at least half of our current congregation. Full benefits package includes health insurance, retirement, and parsonage,” the post reads.
“Jayton is a family based community, situated approximately halfway between Lubbock and Abilene, and is home of Jayton-Girard ISD: an “A” rated school district with a 9-1 student/teacher ratio, state-of-the-art facilities, and numerous highly successful athletic and academic programs.
